Playing the original Need for Speed Special Edition. Winning three tracks in tournament mode. This game could still be fun in multiplayer or time trial modes, but tournament mode sucks! Computer cars are driving on default paths, can make unfair turns at high speeds and player can not. I only played two C-class tracks and one B-class track before losing motivation to try further.

"Need for Speed Special Edition adds new cars, new tracks, changeable time of day settings, 8-player network/modem support, in-game music, and finally Windows 95 support"

01:15 - City (Toyota Supra)
08:51 - Rusty Springs (Toyota Supra)
13:51 - Autumn Valley (Dodge Viper)

Developer: EA Seattle - Pioneer Productions
Publisher: Electronic Arts Ltd. (1996)

  • Is there any possibilite to play this game in two players mode?

  • @Myself84 I played this with a friend a long time ago. This SE version has 8-player network/modem support. I'd remember there is also a split screen option, but not 100% sure.

  • @einokeino303 - Do you know how can I configure this using a LAN cable?

  • @Myself84 Try Hamachi

  • Bullshit. The AI was perfect. I've won every race. You just need some SKILL to beat the first one.

Especially on Vertigo Ridge track they drive very very good ! (and yes good, not unbeatable !!!)

  • @Fleshshredder You're propably right, perhaps I was spoiled by easy gameplay on NFS3 and following sequels or perhaps I didn't practice this one long enough. Also thanks for reading the video description, very few people seem to do so. btw. is there a video in YT beating tournament mode? When I uploaded this video I couldn't find one.

  • how come there is that alligator floating on air? 20:37

  • That opening video ! I remember i was like "wooooooooow" at that time : )

  • @einokeino303 i've played it hundred times with manual transmission and a keyboard. it wasn't that difficult. With MT you have more stearing control. The viper for example is a 6 gear car but you never use the 6°

  • @einokeino303 I'll do a Lets Play. But I do some other games before. But this will be in german, because I'm german.

NFS 2,3,4,6 have a very easy AI. yes. In NFS1 you have to drive really good and to get the first place on Vertigo Ridge you have to have some skill ;) And I'm very impressed about the AI of nfs 1. They drive the good lines, they mostly try to get a chance to overtake to not get into a crash and they drive at the correct speeds the turns. I feel it especially on Vertigo Ridge. :)

  • oh and 2nd. They DONT take turns faster than you can. You CAN drive the turns how the AI does.
