How to face mill stainless steel AISI 303 (1.4305) dry and with negative chipbreakers?

TaeguTecs octoganal roughing insert OFCW 05T3 TN-EMR in grade TT9030 provides all properties as needed.

High cutting speeds, high feed rates, dry machining and long toollife.

With AISI 303 (1.4305), which is easy to machine, cutting speeds can go up (as you see in the video) 200-220 m/min. The more exotic the material, the lower the cutting speed. Feed rates per tooth have to be 0,3 per tooth or MORE!

Cutting depth can be up to 2,0mm depending on stability of the machine, workpiece and clamping.

Cutting width is max. 2/3 of cutter diameter.

  • i agree: try this on a 1.4301: not a chance in hell!

  • @allesinmetaal : Runs on all exotic materials, we have machined even duplex and super-duplex on the same. Lower cutting speed and feed, but the same inserts and the same feed-rate. Just try it, compliment me later!
