  • Gwyn Alf Williams, author of the definitive history "When Was Wales".

Gwyn Alf was not content with scholarly work that was not backed up by political engagement. He tried to influence public opinion by presenting the history of Wales in lectures, books abd tv programmes in both Welsh and English. In all his work the call to action was unequivocal: the capitalist, centralist, British State (and English hegemony) had to be undone if Wales was to survive and prosper.

  • he could have a point.....being on the periphery mean sthat you have to respond to the tune of others. However, this does not mean that capitalism just that you may need your own centre for capitalism. What is remarkable is that Wales has survived despite being on the periphery and at the mercy of the winds from elsewhere...

  • The Welsh will servive!
