Thank you for this great insight. On behalf of the discussion here, I think you can see similarities in surfing: Shortboard - Longboard and now SUP, we are all surfers but still seem not to be able to put discrepancies aside. Enjoy the ride.

I'm sick of this "longboarding", longboard skating is just what you said a branch in the major skate tree. WE ARE SKATERS leave it at that, there is no need to get finer.

hey twins...yes, a longboard is a skateboard...but it's now become its own category. And I believe it will gain more participants and be a much larger (in terms of sales) than street skateboarding.

sure, we are all skaters, but there is a vast amount of difference out there...and it is rearing its head and causing major upheaval. this video explains in more detail. And it will only get more pronounced.
