This is the first film I made. In 1995 I'd just bought my first cam, a Sony VX1000 and went and hung out with Walter Meyer for a week at his home in Bethulie, Free State. With no schooling, I wanted to see how difficult it was to make a film, doing everything myself, including the music. Interviews with Ivor Powell, Kendell Geers and Ricky Burnett were shot in Johannesburg, those of Robert Weinek and Wayne Barker in Cape Town (yes that is Barend de Wet giving Wayne a tattoo).
Kendel was a blunt instrument, which you didn't need, Wayne was incoherent, verging on the profound, Barend, Voortrekker Monument, swimming pool distracting. Rest was pretty nice.
