  • you live in a for real woods. I'm so jealous.

  • @romancwriter2 Yes, I am surrounded by northern boreal forest!

  • Hey Nancy, what are the seasons where you live? When is your first snow and your last? I'm curious because it is so gorgeous where you live, and here in Utah this year it has been so green--very unlike the high desert. We had three inches of rain one day last week. That is amazing for here.

  • @romancwriter2 We have our first frost anytime from the second week in september to the middle of October. The snow comes soon and stays from november (except with global warming we haven't had snow in november much lately). Till it starts to melt in March. The snow is gone by mid April. May is hot for us. By mid August it is cooling off and you need long sleeves some days. The lakes are swimable in July and early August if you want warm water. Freezeup is October through March.

  • speaking of looking out of glass.

when i put together my green house, or hot house what ever u want to call it , it will be nice to be in there in winter. or on a rainy day looking out. it will be made of polycarbonate panels.

only a small one thought because it was all i could afford.

  • Sounds lovely!

  • yes it would be nice but it would be like an oven in there at the moment. still had hot weather weekend was 34.c or about 95.f.

my hothouse will have an automatic vent opener in the roof to let the heat out if it goes too hot so plants dont cook.

  • No, I wasn't large scale Nancy until Canada!

I just love my little retreats!

  • They've started, but May is hot, June is milder. April we see the last of the snow melt.

  • Did you build tipis when you lived in Georgia? I think that is the neatest thing that you do that! How nice to have your own little retreats scattered around your property.
