The thought behind the creation of a replica of the Sistine Chapel on the Vassar College island in Second Life is presented. A visit to this virtual scale model gives a sense of scale and spatial relationships not possible by viewing the images of the chapel in a book or on a Web page. An excellent example of the possibilities the virtual world of Second Life offers for education.
Bret Ingerman, Vice President for Computing and Information Services at Vassar College, guides the Kirkwood Community College Second Life Group on a virtual tour of the Vassar College campus in Second Life. Bret shares background information and thought behind the creation of various structures on the virtual campus including the Sistine Chapel. He has advice for any college considering creating a presence in Second Life. This tour was recorded 02-14-2008. The presentation has been divided into 13 parts for ease of viewing.
