  • What was the build quality like on this monitor?

  • @cozmoz365 Excellent. The swivelling base was not loose, the height adjustable stand was firm and the bezel was flawless (no scuffs/scrapes/cracks).

  • what would be best for photo editing this or dell ultrasharp

  • @hikinguphigh The Asus has factory calibrated colors so it would be a better choice if you want to most realistic/natural picture and can get it from a place with a hassle free return/exchange policy. However if you can get the Dell for considerably less you could use your savings to buy a colorimeter.

  • @240hzTeIaStorm Thanks!

  • @240hzTeIaStorm I think I may give it a miss then. I've been looking at some other peoples thoughts on various forums and it seems they all have similar issues until they end up with a decent unit.

Thanks for the video and help anyway. If you have any other suggestions for monitors around this price range (or even under) I'd be happy to hear them.

  • @DrunkenGeordieMW Gears 3 is true 720p. I returned my unit because it had horrible screen uniformity, much lower contrast and gamma compared to other review samples and I hate the super grainy matte coating LG (LG makes IPS panels) uses on their displays.

It's worth the $ for those who must have an IPS panel since it has the most features and fastest response times compared to the rest. If you do decide to get one be prepared to exchange it multiple times.

  • @240hzTeIaStorm I had a feeling you would say that. How about Gears then (I believe that is 720p)? I'm really interested in getting this monitor, but I'm just worried that I'll spend the money and be slightly disappointed again. Maybe my expectations are too high.

Did you return the unit? Do you still believe it's worth the money? Thanks for taking the time to reply by the way, it's greatly appreciated.

  • Can I ask what you thought of the quality of the unit when using say, Xbox over HDMI? It looked pretty good in the video and I appreciate its a hard thing to judge since the majority of games aren't designed for the monitors native resolution.

The reason I ask is I currently own a Asus VW246H. As a PC monitor it isn't bad, and if I play any1080p native games on PS3 they look stunning. When I start dwindling down to the lower res games like COD and Halo though, I'm seeing jagged edges and blur.

  • Nicely made review, this is what we want, including testing the blurriness and latency. So thumbs up!
