On Saturday 26th September 2009 there was a lovely festival in my local park so I filmed it. The festival was called The Warwick Wingding 2009 and was oranised by the Friends of the Warwick Gardens.

Music used in the film (in order)

First DJ Mickey Smith introduces the afternoon

DR. KING

ARCHIE aka ZOO KID

THE SAUDIS

SACHA ADAMCZEWSKI

LIME HEADED DOG

SHY FX - original nutta

The warwick wingding was funded by
Capital Community Fund Grassroots grant
and supported by
London Borough of Southwark

Video shot on a Panasonic GH1 (PAL) at 720/50p; converted to Cineform and edited in Premiere Pro; graded using Premiere Pro. All music was recorded directly from the event's mixing desk.

Please note there's one spelling error in the credits! Lindsay Kronos should be spelt Lindsay Krones!

  • @ 1:55 I have never heard that Zoo Kid song before!

  • @DeShonDixonHD ...continued from post below... also, regarding cameras, I'd recommend reading Philip Bloom's blog (if you haven't already) and spending some time at DVinfo and DVXuser.

  • @DeShonDixonHD The 14-42 and the 135 are totally different tools, used in totally different situations. I wouldn't feel comfortable saying one was my favourite over the other (and I don't think I've used the 14-42 either).

Regarding low-light: you can tell which lens will attenuate the least amount of light by looking at the widest f-stop the lens is capable of. An f2.8 lens will let through more light than an f4 lens. If you haven't seen it then I'd recommend WikiPedia's article F-numbers

  • @DeShonDixonHD Er. I quite like both lenses but I wouldn't say they're my favourites (I'd say my 28mm is my favourite). I had to use the 85 and 135 because I was about 15meters from the stage and I wanted a midshot of the performers on the stage. The physics of the situation dictated the choice of lens.

  • @DeShonDixonHD Hmm... that would have been either the 85 or the 135. I was about 15 meters from the stage at the time. Remember than the GH1 (which I was shooting on) has a crop factor of something like a 1.8x (if I remember correctly).

  • @DeShonDixonHD I would have liked to help but I'm afraid my camera and lenses are currently on loan to a colleague who's shooting a documentary abroad for the next few months so I won't be able to do a test. And I'm afraid I'm not sure if the shot at 3:55 was shot on the 85 or the 135; it was shot quite a while ago.

Could you hire a lens from your local rental house to test it? Or buy from eBay and then re-sell if you don't like it?

  • @DeShonDixonHD Ah, yes, I see the shot you mean. If I remember correctly, that shot was on my Nikon 85mm f1.8 or possibly even the 135mm f2.8. They're both really old Nikon lenses I bought from eBay for about £60 each. They're both pretty soft (especially the 135) but they're fine for web videos. I was using the Red Rock Micro "StuBling" camera support and follow focus, mounted on a tripod with fluid head.

  • @DeShonDixonHD Please tell me the exact time code of the shot you're interested in and I'll do my best to remember which lens I used.

  • Great news! Happening again this year on 25th September 2010 from 12 noon until 7:30 in Warwick Gardens, Peckham, London, SE15
