Ike understood the cost of taking Berlin and could not justify that cost only to give it to the Russians. He focused on grabbing as much other territory as he could to prevent problems. Stalin was smarter then hitler,stalin knew the weak russian army would lost a lot of soldiers so he said give every 1 rifle per 2 soildiers and the others ammo,but they Would win the battle of stalingrad and rush into germany...And the Russian army killed their own because Russia want to win they HAD to win...

@farmerne I am American and I agree with you. Unfortunately, this is not taught in our schools. In school we are taught that America won ww2 and we are never taught about the conflict between Soviet vs. Germany. I had to learn it on my own through personal interest. Most of the fighting occurred before Americans even stepped foot in Europe. We entered the war when the Germans were already beat down by the Soviets. It was never our war, Japan was our enemy during this time not Germany.

Everyone just forget that the russians killed more civilians than the nazis did, but hey, russia also won the war, so just let forget about those facts and celebrate like they are heroes.

Killing their own soldiers when they retreated, and only give 1 rifle per 4 soldiers.

Josef stalin was way worse than hitler was, they were both warcriminals, but Stalin killed way more civilians and his own soldiers.
