Interesting bit of information from captaineasychord, as I was a big fan of McGuinn/Byrds etc. But for all its beautiful sound this song is let down for me by the fact it sounds like a bird whose just been caught shagging her mans mate and wants to "poetically"get off with it and still have both of them. Get real.
I think everyone on here should list their secret triad or wish for. I'll go first: Me Myself and I! Ha Ha! Now let's hear some really interesting combinations.
I'd recommend Quicksilver Messenger Service and Its a Beautiful Day. Especially Its a Beautiful day. The San Fran influence is very clear with this band.
The national anthem of the "Polyamory" community! Seriously -- a beautiful song which must have turned a LOT of heads in '68, especially with a WOMAN's voice proposing the arrangement. Crosby's songwriting skills and Slick's lush voice are an unbeatable combination -- thanks for posting this!
Controversial song for its time, David Crosby originally recorded it with the Byrds for the Notorious Byrd Brothers album but Roger McGuinn & Chris Hillman vetoed it in favor of the innocuous Goin' Back and kicked Crosby out of the band. Then Jefferson Airplane recorded their version with David on guitar.
