I grew up in New Hampshire and now I live out in California and I have many fond memories of this song. Unless I am mistaken this may also be the State Anthem for New Hampshire as well. Anytime I hear this song I get a little bit misty and homesick. Can you blame me?

  • i came to NH 30 years ago and i loved waking up to this song as WMUR TV opening its morning programming. I used to hear the shaw brothers perform this live at july 4 celebrations, too. i could never get enough of this song. still can't.

NH really is a piece of God's paradise on Earth.

  • i am from texas but i go to new hampshire for a camp i go to. i have fallen in love with the state. the shaw brothers came to the camp i go to and i love this song because it takes me back to where the purple lilacs grow and i can look out the window and see endless sky with mountains. and outside my door is the pemi river. i love new hampshire.

  • I have been seeing these guys since 78, when i was four, going to see them on the 21st, cant wait!

  • There are only two places I've ever been where I instantly thought, "I could live here forever." One is Maui, the other is New Hampshire. Now I live in NH. :)

  • I am from North Conway...and we all grew up with these boys.....we are very proud of them...

  • The first I ever heard this duo was in 1974 in a small tavern in the center of Portsmouth, NH; I was stationed at Pease AFB at the time. It was called The Market Square Pub. I used to sit there every Thursday and Saturday night, listen, and sing along with The Shaw Brothers.

I returned to NH after retiring from military service in1994 and lived there for another 8+ years.

I do miss New Hampshire a little every time I’m reminded of it.

Keep posting Shaw Brothers music; it’s all good

  • @rpolirer Totally! I was born in Massachusetts, I moved to NH when I was 4 YO I spent the next 30 years in the BEAUTIFUL Lakes region and I know that no matter where this wonderfull life takes Me, from Cali to Egypt, France to Mexico and back, NH is the Place My journey will end and where My remains will rest eternaly! I LOVE NEW HAMPSHIRE! In My opponion, theres not a better place on Earth and I thank God I could be native to that great PLACE!

  • We listened to this when I was in 4th grade in the early 1990s. I always remembered the NH Naturally line and would sing it when crossing the state line (in jest of course). It was great to finally here the song again.

  • Thank you Portly for making this. I'm a native now living "away". This is really nice. I don't (didn't) live too far from the Cornish-Windsor covered bridge.

  • does anyone have lyrics for this song?

  • For the curious, this is one of New Hampshire's "honorary" state songs. The official one is "Old New Hampshire".
