  • @butterflykisses62 Don't forget your goal, many people do similar things and get complacent with their $11/h wage.

  • yeah working odd hours and lots of overtime sounds VERY exciting.

  • I really like this video! I am planning be a lawyer in the criminal field some day. It makes total sense to become a Paralegal first, because it will give me an idea what I will get myself into and it will be like hands on training. :D

  • @619anastasia This video is for American paralegals. Practicing law is different in different countries. Sure, you can give legal advice in Canada, just don't do it in America.

  • @specv02bg Paralegals cannot under any circumstances practice law in the U.S. They can do many things but only under the supervision of an attorney. As long as their supervising attorney okays their motions, etc. it's fine.

  • @619anastasia Wow. I don't know how things work in Canada, but in the U.S. paralegals absolutely CANNOT administer legal advice. Administering legal advice is practicing law and doing so without a license is the unauthorized practice of law. An attorney can get in BIG trouble if his/her paralegal does that. Setting fees, accepting or rejecting cases, and administering legal advice constitute the practice of law. Again, if you do not have a license to practice, you can't do it!

  • All careers have their challenges and all have their pros and cons. If someone is truly interested they shouldn't allow others to discourage a willing and hard working person.

  • If anyone wants to go to law school, I highly recommend you do a paralegal program first. You should have a strong idea of what you are getting yourself into before you get screwed over in law school with massive debt and enter an extremely saturated profession. Becoming a Paralegal is a great way to see if law school is right for you

  • ALL WRONG...Paralegals in Ontario can practice in areas such as civil litigation, criminal law (provincial offences) human rights, different admin. trubunals etc. ALL BY THEMSELVES without the assistance of a lawyer. I guess things are different in the States.

  • Sounds like a hard job
