I think that, if something like the Montauk Monster gets created in a lab, it would probablly be euthanasied, but not thrown to the water. Unless thats they were wanting to create! Genetically enginered racoon super-soldiers!
Im not the kind of guy who thinks "this is fake! fake! everything is fake! only what my mom told to me is true!", we dont know everything about this world, so why not? It could be an experiment.

Yeah, you're right, some people took hours, possibly a collection of weeks to make a fake Montauk-Monster, for a couple thousand views on YouTube. There's NO possible way they wanted people to know about this discovery, and with YouTube being such a beast at market activity, and publicity, they definitely wouldn't put it up here.
OR, there are things that are weird, that the general public doesn't know about. Or you know everything that's real and fake. That's more plausible. <_<
