my basic rule is dont act like you are working for tips, also make your kitchen guys work for you....i been doing seving and bartending for seventeen years and you will always get a customer like that, you did good...sometimes that is all you can do, waitressing is your customers first look at how the restaurant is doing so you got to learn to take the flack with a smile.

People don't understand that waiters AND bartenders can cut you off any time they feel it is necessary whether it is valid or they just feel like being a jerk and you will be expected to pay for what you have consumed or be considered stealing. If a customer is rude, you are more than right to cut off a customer from alcohol. Five dollars won't make or break them. I treat waiters just like I would like to be treated.
