WORLD PREMIERE! Choose "watch in high quality". The View was a New Wave power pop rock group from 1981. They were the house band downstairs at Madame Wong's West where I was the DJ, MC, and light show guy. We became friends and I directed 2 funny, quirky, creative music videos for them. This one was known as my "masterpiece" because of all the little subtleties and wacky special effects. FX weren't that prevalent on low budget productions back then, but we figured out how to do it.

GARY EATON- Leader, main songwriter, guitarist, lead singer.
SEVERO JORNACION, JR.- bass, vocals
JEFF JONES- keyboards, vocals
SHEVLIN SMITH- drums
JANET THOMPSON- hard-working manager/band rep

MARC FRIEDLANDER- video director
Carol Everson did a GREAT job as my Assistant Director, keepin' it all together. She also acts, putting in a cameo at the beginning and doing a voice-over at the very beginning...you can hear her Baltimore accent.

Actors in Video- MICHELLE MEENA, CAROL EVERSON, ALLEN PITCH, WAYNE WEIGHTMAN, ANGELICA CASSILLAS, BRUCE DICHTER, CHRIS ROVTAR, GIGI MARIAM, RICK CHARRON, DEBBIE 'PORTIA' SMITH, AND IRENE JORNACION.

  • My favorite View covers were Midnight Confessions and Gary's potty-mouth version of I'm a Believer. gr8shott, that was me. Believe it or not I STILL play Little Willie by The Sweet almost every weekend at my current gig as house DJ at the Valley Ice Center skating rink. COme check me out!

  • Hey Robbie,

Give young Gary a break! You try performing with a goofy blonde moptop/Ted Baxter hairdo....oh, oooops....

Seriously, let's get some feedback from the legendary Mr. Eaton himself. I want to hear his thoughts on his days in The View, the original houseband at Madame Wong's West. Is he still listening to Godley Creme?

  • One of my favorites was Elvis Costello's "Pump it Up". You guys rocked doing that one!

  • Hearing this song and Mention No Names....I'm shocked how well we actually played.

  • Unbelievable! Every Tue and Sat nights at Madame Wongs West. Sheldon, if you were that DJ, then I remember you.. When you left, I started bringing in music since there was NUTHIN' between bands. I knew Jeff's sister. (I remember you would play that Willy won't go home song.) Fun Times!
