  • Pinza was the most comparable vocally. He sang Russian opera, but always in Italian. Exception: he is a glorious highlight of the silly movie Tonight We Sing, playing Chaliapin & singing in impeccable Russian. Chalipain was greatly influenced by Stanislavsky. He broke the mold of earlier Park & Bark singers, feeling & acting the parts he played. That attitude permeated his voice, so thrilling. I shudder with the emotion of his Quixote every time I hear it.

  • Yes all you say is right.both voices were pretty voices but not too big. Chaliapin was a magnificent actor, his friend Stanislavsky taught him how to express. Actually the technic of Stanislavsky is used by most singers. l had the luck to study it with Boris Goldowsky and this helped me to be a quite good actress, absolutely natural and expressive.acting in scene. It's a way of transmitting feeling to the public.

  • Schaliapin has been a extraordinary actor. singer.

His friend was Stanislawski; he was the master of the new way of acting,. A good actor has to understand what he is acting, the sane as a good lyric singer,, if not Bad, Bad, bad. The new producers , yes they are doing new things but who really in the public understand ? You should see the way Feodor was acting in Boris, great emotion and the video is bad...

  • I have no words!

  • There is nobody like Chaliapin he was some one unto himself. He is incomparable because he is so fully unique and though there have been great voices possibly better the expression is an artist for whom the text is from his individual soul and obviously only he can sing as Chaliapin. I think this and thePersian Love songe are great works of recoding

  • Chaliapin was my great grandfather...thank you for posting this on YouTube...lovely to see it again after all these years!

  • Grazie per la condivisione!

  • Спасибо Федор Иванович!

  • Would you be referring to Boris Goldovsky the opera impressario? We so looked forward to the Goldovsky Opera Company's coming to L.A. with topnotch grand opera at affordable admission prices. You seem too young, so maybe not. But if so, you were most fortunate to study with him! One thing I learned as a Hollywood extra, I could never be a real actor, but I greatly admire those endowed with the skill, especially the "method."

  • *nods* Yep. I first fell in ♥ with his acting and singing by watching a speacial about him on OvationTV. (They have a YouTube Channel.)

  • thanx
