Double Dog Pale Ale is part of Flying Dog Brewery's Canis Major series of big beers. It is a double recipe of their regular Pale Ale and has 11.5% ABV and 85 IBU's. I had this in my beer fridge for a few months and decided I'd better drink it. I matched it up with some pizza that I cooked on the Big Green Egg.

  • Great looking pizza! Sally and I just tried the beer.....I guess 10 to 10.5% alcohol is my limit. While complex, I just felt she had too much alcohol going on. I think the malt and alcohol stepped on my hops. Saying that....it was a treat.

  • @pinkync Yeah, it seems that once a beer gets to 10%+ controlling the malt can be a problem.

  • This is one beer to savor. I liked it.

  • @Crisgo3d It's a good beer, and is good for sipping and enjoying.

  • @Batman9571 Andre has been with me for 25 years so he's had A LOT of beer. But, just counting these reviews I've been doing I'd have to guess that maybe 10-15 beers?

  • @VideoBeerReviews How many beers have you used for the Andre mug?

  • @rjsimone1 Since the beer is a "double" I used the oversized wine glass, like I do for many bigger beers. It's definitely a good beer no matter what glass it's in. Cheers!

  • Use a pint glass!!! And sip it...the best pale ale ever..

  • @VideoBeerReviews Thanks!

  • @paintballer05 The recipe is basically a regular pizza crust with regular old pizza sauce (I used Trader Joes' version). I cooked up some sausage as well as some green and yellow peppers. The cheese was a "5 cheese" mix that I got at trader Joes. Other than that there's nothing special about how I prepared it except for cooking it on the Big Green Egg (over indirect heat). Thanks for watching!
