Trains at Manchester Piccadilly | 23.02.2011

Various trains arriving & departing Manchester's Piccadilly station, and a wet miserable afternoon of Wednesday 23rd February 2011.
The only reason I managed to even make this video is because my plan was to catch the 12:15 Virgin Pendolino back to Milton Keynes, but my Transpennine express got held up out-side on my way in from Manchester Airport, so I missed it... So then I had an hour until the next Virgin which stops at Milton Keynes, in which time I filmed this!

does the line continue on out of manchester or is it like Euston where the trains Terminate? Also i thought the 175 arriva livery only worked in wales? Good video mate!

@zootee56 You know some of the shots to the left of where I was standing, you see a 156 leave there at 1 point, that is an island platform its p13 & p14. Those platforms continue to Manchester Oxford Road and onwards to Bolton, Blackburn, Liverpool and Warrington. Arriva trains wales 175's do venture out of Wales to places such as Birmingham, Crewe & Manchester on services to and from Wales. So those 175's you saw in that video were going back to Wales or had come from Wales.

@rachaelmatt ahhhh i thought it would be a bit odd for the line to terminate there with so many other cities the other side of it, the 175 must be very hard wearing in it can go from wales to manchester an back again, also i was surprised to not see any London Midland because i think wherever a pendolino goes London Midland follow?

@zootee56 Nope, London Midland dont operate to Manchester: Just Between London - Birmingham, local services around Birmingham & services from Birmingham to Liverpool.
