Here I am making my self a delicious Chaga Tea.
To find out a bit more about chaga go here http://bushcraftusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31578 where I posted some more pictures. My nickname there is ron_in.

Medicinal properties:
Chaga or Birch fungus (!NOT BIRCH BRACKET FUNGUS!) is a Medicinal Mushroom that you can make a tea out of it.
I make it my self whenever I find it in the woods.

- Treating Stomach diseases,
- Anti Tumor activity,
- Good for Liver and Heart,
- Boosting Immune system,
- Against Cancers: breast, liver, uterine, gastric,
- Diabetes,
- Anti Inflammatory,
- Against HIV-1,
- Hypertension
- The best ANTIOXIDANT!
Here is some more info about chaga I found googling:
Since the 16th century, there are records of chaga mushroom being used in folk medicine and the botanical medicine of the Eastern European countries as a remedy for cancer, gastritis, ulcers, and tuberculosis of the bones.[citation needed] In 1958, scientific studies in Finland and Russia found Chaga provided an epochal effect in breast cancer, liver cancer, uterine cancer, and gastric cancer, as well as in hypertension and diabetes.[citation needed] Herbalist David Winston maintains that it is the strongest anti-cancer medicinal mushroom.[1]. Russian Literature Nobel Prize laureate Alexandr Solzhenitsyn wrote two pages on the medicinal use and value of chaga in his famous book on his life in the Gulag "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich".

  • Thanks for the video, I have some on the stove brewing now. I collected some chaga for the 1st time yesterday and am anxious to try it.

  • @chrismel3789 Great! I hope you will like it... I love it with a tad bit of honey...

  • Learn about Wildcrafted Siberian Chaga from Chaga International. It is the highest grade of chaga available and already has been extracted in it's purest form for immediate consumption. VERY EFFECTIVE!! see it online at mychaga dot com/info

  • @susanwesla Thank you very much for your reply and offer. I am will have to pass on your offer to sell me chaga since I collect it my self whenever I am in woods, and currently I have a few kilos of that wonderful tasting and miracle fungus.

  • You guys are again overlooking that making tea just like this is not going to have any health effects.

It should brew for 8 - 10 hours, before the chitin mushroom cells have released the polysaccharides and the other good stuff. That's why the Siberians used their samovar - it was on the fire for the whole day and that's how they benefitted from it - they were in their own way 'extracting' .

People cannot digest raw mushrooms! Making tea for 5-10 minutes like this will taste OK but that's it.

  • @SIBALD When I'm at home I brew it for 4 to 5 hours slowly cooking it at the low temperature adding water from time to time. But in the wild there is simply no time for a such sport... I brew it for an odd hour and for me tastes excellent. Thank you for your input but can you support your 8 to 10 hour by providing source. Thank you.

  • @nedeljkomostar Thanks for getting back to me, I have most of my Chaga information from this website oriveda dot com, they have a great resources section with pdf's and the page where they give background about Chaga and Chaga supplements was pretty enlightening for me as well.

I used to buy raw Chaga on Ebay but it didn't really do anything for me + was pretty expensive, so I tried supplements and ended up with these oriveda guys. They know a lot about heir stuff and are very helpful.

  • @TomsBackwoods Thanks Tom. Whenever I'm in woods I keep one eye on Birch looking for chaga.

  • Great video! I'm always on the lookout for chaga!

  • @wawhiker At the bushcraftusa forum where my nickname is ron_in I posted some pics and a bit more info about chaga.... There is the link I put in description under above video.
