The guitar used by Macintosh is an yamaha GL1 Mini. Just a guitar sized ukulele, which sounds unbelievably good when he plays it.

@jbittma1 It's definitely not a mandolin. Mandolins have 8 strings (each of the 4 strings is doubled, kind of like a 12 string guitar) and is far more piercing in tone than that. That is either a ukelele of some sort, or something called a Terz guitar, which is a normal guitar tuned up a minor 3rd. I believe I remember John saying it was a Terz in an interview, but I could be wrong.
