This is a very informative bit of video. It does show that the n'goni is the sperm of the blues. Everybody on that stage was there for a very good reason, though I had never heard of the white guy with the guitar, he has to have something going for him to work so well in that setting. The action on stage very well illustrates the meaning of the term "stage presence."
It also well-illustrates the meaning of "blowing the freaking house away."
This is simply amazing. I challenge you not to move your body when you hear this. I've been WAY into Kouyate for the last couple of years. Crank this loud.
@TheTripullizer So Awesome! I just bought tickets to see them next week at the Spoleto Festival, and I hadn't heard them before! Can't you just hear the birthings of blues and jazz in this music? Rock out with the contrapuntal rhythms, people!
Crazy to think those koras probably cost about the same price as his guitar strings!
Now i know the origins of the guitar. It was not born in Spain or any other Euro country. It came from AFRICA!

The "white guy with the guitar" is Justin Adams. Check out his duo with Juldeh Camara, they're fantastic!
