Camilo Villegas Pride of His Nation Spiderman Colombian

Camilo Villegas is an athlete with promise, a golfer who could eventually approach the heights on the golf course that he already has scaled off it.
There is no doubt but that being Camilo Villegas, 26, is indeed a fine thing. Already a sports icon in Colombia, the land of his birth, he has attracted a dozen South American news media outlets to this week's W.G.C.-CA Championship at Doral, a number that would be impressive even for Tiger Woods.

Villegas is quite serious about promoting the country of Colombia, where he visits at least three times a year. He has also developed a rabid following in his homeland, and he is expected to attract huge galleries at Doral. And then there is the matter of his native country, where many of its citizens will be following his progress in the tournament on television. "Colombia is a great country," he said. "It's unbelievable. I miss it a lot. It's my country, it's where I'm from and I always look forward to going back."
