Five Years of Our Lives [Nelena ONE-SHOT] Part 1 Contest Entry for mzzjudylee

2010 Age: 22

Selena tucked her hair behind her ear, rummaging through her jewerly box. Her hands made contact with a silver necklace. She took a deep breath and pulled it out.
It's chains clinked together as it hung from her fore finger. In the dark of the room, she could still see the shine glittering from the locket.
She placed the necklace into her other hand, chills running down her, memories flooding her.
Her thumb neatly opened the heart shaped locket, a picture of a face on the inside. A face she would never forget.
Warm eyes, gentle features, her mind raptured her back into the past, of her occurances with this angelic boy.
2005 Age: 17

Selena stared at her reflection in the mirror of the P.E. girls locker room. The bell had already sounded, but Selena continued to brush her long dark brown hair, applied lip gloss and continued to make herself "presentable."
Demi walked down the hall, it was now 7th periods turn to get ready for P.E., and she wasn't astounded Selena was cutting off her 7th period learning time for hair and make up.

"And the queen cannot rest in her need of perfection, can she?" Demi teased as Selena was wiping the lip gloss that made it's way to her skin and not lip.

"Hi to you too, Demi." Selena replied as she smacked her lips, satisfied a bit.

"What- you're skipping 7th period now too?" Demi laughed at her own joke and pulled her gym clothes out of her locker, which was located next to the mirror.

"Want me to? It's just math. I heard you guys have a substitute for P.E. anyways." Selena was never one to follow rules, though sometimes her parents could care less. They ran a family business and barely ever saw Selena.

"Didn't you just have P.E.?"

"Yeah, but that doesn't mean I have to change again. God, Demi, sometimes you can be so stupid." Selena flipped her hair and examined her nails, thankfully, none of the lockers chipped them.

"Shut up." Demi was such a tomboy, Selena noted as she watched Demi pull on her P.E. gym shirt and shorts. Selena attention was caught by the numerous amount of bracelets on her wrists. Demi wasn't ugly, she was quite pretty, just too boy-like.

The bell rang, shocking Selena out of her thoughts.

"Lets go, Princess." Demi threw on her shoulder bag, slammed her locker shut and walked through the doors of the locker room. Selena slowly picked up her purse and followed.

Demi opened the doors to the gym and Selena looked around at the people in 7th period. Her eyes rested on the back of a muscular figure with curly brown hair, he stood on the other side of the gym with friends, laughing and talking.
Selena tried not to look at him as Demi led her to the wall, where they put their bags down. Selena stood up straight and a whistle blew on cue.

The teenagers gathered to roll call, the boy had finally turned around and Selena's breath was taken away. Chocolate brown eyes and the most gentle face the world had to offer. He didn't sag his pants, Selena noticed as he sat down a few spots behind her.

He got a lot of attention Selena noticed, why hadn't she ever met him? Maybe she was just too self absorbed to. She watched in amazement how he was nice to even the nerd girl. Selena smiled, somehow that made her like him more.

2006 Age: 18

Nick and Selena danced in key, their bodies fitting perfectly together. Selena looked up at the man who had been her boyfriend for the past 6 months.

"Have I told you how beautiful you look yet?" Nick asked, tightening his grip on her waist.

Selena giggled and looked down at how her body was pushed to his, making shockwaves run through her, "Yes." She blushed.

Nick smiled and kissed her forehead, "I got you something." He whispered.

Selena's eyebrows furrowed and she looked up, "You didn't have to."

"I wanted to." Nick smiled and dug one of his hands into his pocket to reveal a small velvet box, he opened it and inside there was a silver locket necklace.

Selena's eyes widened, "Wow.. Thank you.. I always wanted one of these." She lifted the necklace out of its box, examining its features.

"Open it."

Selena looked at him, his face inches from hers, she opened the locket with her thumb and inside sat his picture gracefully.

"It's kind of like a goodbye-hello present. After all, this is our graduation dance, then college starts and we'll be together, I promise."
