L'elisir Contest - María Bayo - Rolando Villazón

The first part this contest will be the act I duet from L'elisir D'amore. I choose this for all of the obvious reasons, it's just great music! In the hands of world class singers, such as I have provided, this music is just magical. Since this is a duet, there are some overlaps of singers, think of it as a tribute to their art. In the spirit of a providing a variety of singers I am also providing a few clips from the later duet as an added bonus. Once again a score of 1-5 for singing/characterization:

Bayo sings really very good. You might not like her stage presence but SINGING is clean, near perfect. ROLANDO is wonderful and gorgeous as always. Voice, singing and stage presence. In this production he had incredible success.

Of all tenor roles, Nemorino should NOT be sung with the emission of a baritone. He is an artist, but did anyone doubt he would have vocal problems singing this way? I hope he recovers....

das ist richtig, was Sie sagen. Villazon ist immer auf 180 beim Singen. Und jeder weiß, dass selbst das stärkste Pferd auch mal leicht laufen muß und nicht nur Galopp. Hoffen wir, dass er einsichtig wird, denn auch er hat nur eine Stimme.

These two are quite charming together! First I've heard of Bayo, she is terrific! I'm not a big Villazon fan, but I think he's quite good in this. I love this contest you've put together, it's quite fun! It's amazing how different all the interpretations are.

Villazon singt technisch gefährlich. Zu wenig angepassten Atem und deshalb automatisch zu überfunktional arbeitende Stimmlippenschießmuskeln und Spannmuskeln. Das bringt Stimmen mittel- bis längefristig um.
