Because you shouldn't be held back by technical ability when writing songs. If you can do every technique, then you are not restricted to writing melodies with only few techniques.

Yeah, you're right; but still technique is necessary if you want to express yourself fully. But yeah people do tend to focus more on technique in music which is just stupid.

I agree with you buddy. I'm just now learning more advanced techniques. But I use them sparingly.

That's right.. But this way you're unconsciously forced to add techinque to every solo, riff and so on.. Most of the times, it takes just a few notes to create such a good song..

The songs which have made the history of music are the simple ones, I think...

Finally, there are sooooooo many fast guitar players, but the ones who create good music without making use of technique are soooo few.. PS sorry for my English..I'm Italian..
