"The Circle of Life" explores the synthesis of water properties and the photosynthetic process to show the importance of both in understanding the way life works. One of the eight characteristics of life is metabolism; photosynthesis is a metabolic pathway, and the basis of all life. Photosynthesis uses water in its process of releasing oxygen and formulating ATP. Without photosynthesis, life on earth as we know it, would not exist; and without water, photosynthesis could not occur. This short movie demonstrates why this is true. It explains which properties of water allow photosynthesis to occur, and how these properties essentially cause the light-dependent reaction in which ATP is phosphorylated, and cells get energy.
