it's more heroic, but one of the things that was cool in the SDF version was that war WASN'T heroic. It was awkward and senseless. He goes out like a champ in this, but I prefer the ignoble death he suffers in the original series. Makes you feel a little more hollow inside.

In the DelRey book adaptation of the SDF version, it's pretty heroic; Fokker's shot in the back because his wingman is downed and he circles the man's position, failing to watch his own back, out of concern.
