    How long? I guess about 5 -10 years to feel like I really felt comfortable and fluent - I recorded this Lied with ca. 20 + years of German under my belt. I still make lots of mistakes, have never been a perfectionist but more of a messy communicator. That's the advantage of learning the text of a great poet - if you memorize or watch carefully, your grammar is perfect :-)

  • bachelbel, if you understood the words and the fantastic way they are delivered in this performance, you would prefer this. she breaks the heart and thrills the senses. the best i've ever heard in 50 years!
