LMS 46115 Scots Guardsman hauled the Train of Hope Railtour from to Crewe to Carlisle via the West Coast mainline over Shap and back to Crewe later in the day via The Settle and Carlisle line. The Scot is first seen at Garstang motoring towards the water stop at Carnforth with a strange high pitched steam noise .The next shot sees 46115 working hard on the climb towards Shap summit with the strange sound a 47 on the rear for company ( sorry the 4th coach jumps before the transition into the going away shot as this happened in the edit somehow ) . The return sees 46115 hammering towards the Summit at Aisgill with loads of clag . The tour was a operated by CLIC Sargent a charity for children and young people with cancer.

  • @SteffanLlwyd . I agree Steffan , should be good when we finally have two Scots on the rails . Steve

  • you can just hear the whistle at Garstang, sounds good approaching shap summit, and a great pan at Ais Gill, smashing, cheers. Leon.

  • @noelist . Thanks Leon, the sound was magic approaching the summit at Shap until the steam noise kicked in . Glad you enjoyed the shot at Aisgill . Steve

  • @Stephengthompson apparently 46115 was in throttle-back mode because of the fire risk due to the warm weather. Gareth :)

  • @balmesh . Thanks Alan , nice change for the drain cock to be shut but there was a bigger steam noise coming from somewhere . Steve

  • Brilliant Steve. Enjoyed it all. At least the drain-cock was not blowing! . . . . Alan

  • shame about the whistle getting blotted out at Garstang, sounded fine approaching shap summit, and a lovely pan through Ais Gill from up there almost on mallerstang common, brilliant, Thanks. Leon.
