Just as the title says, a mass startup of five magnetic rapid start ballasts with three and four foot T8 and T12 lamps. From right to left, Lithonia shoplight with Magnetek Watt-Reducer high power factor F40 ballast and GE Daylight tubes (6500 K), older shoplight with Universal Lighting rapid start magnetic F32T8 ballast and Philips Alto TL850 lamps (5000 K), Advance "Powrkut" magnetic/electronic hybrid ballast with two Sylvania-made Feit Electric Cool White Deluxe F40's (4100 K), Advance Mark III ballast and two GE-made Ace Hardware "Shoplight" F40CW's (4100 K), and last but not least, a Lithonia three foot strip with Advance Mark III ballast and two GE F30CW's (4100 K). The effect on camera is not near what it was in real life. But anyways, enjoy.

  • Hi and GREAT video. I have a question that I'd like to ask you.. I have (4) single lamp F30-T12 fixtures and I'd like to daisy chain them on a stand to create a plant light using Daylight 6500K tubes. Can you supply me with a wiring diagram for this project good sir? And may you have a favorite method to test a ballast for functionality using a multimeter? Btw. you are great!!

  • @BabelGut Very very simple. The black and white wires are the hot and neutral supply conductors. Group all the whites together and attach them to the neutral on your cord. Do the same with the blacks and attach them to the hot from your cord. Attach the ground wire to the fixture chassis.

  • Always great to see others who get thrills with this stuff! Awesome!

  • 5 stars!!!!!!! Keep up the great work!!!! I just got a LPF start shoplight, and it is awesome. Takes 2-3 seconds of dim warm up and then reaches full brightness within 2 seconds after. Instant start is just plain boring, unless it has a flash or delay in startup.

  • Good mass start video!

  • wonderful video bamaslamma!

All of these look like their HPF ballasts, which are my favorite. And it's always

great to see another Watt-Reducer being used. Great video!

  • Makes me feel like I'm back in school and all the rapid start fixtures in the classroom are starting up.

  • This is way cool!
