Smart Classroom Started

The first smart class room was inaugurated in Dhamrai Jamal Uddin School. The State Minister for Science and ICT Architect Yeafesh Osman graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Smart Class Room is not about hardware, it is about empowring teachers thorugh ICTs and about improving pedagogy. A teacher took a class on digestion system showing a small video clip. A large screen television was used insted of multimedia projector. Teachers combine traditional teaching method with ICT which enhances learneability by the students. The focus is on how a teacher should take preparation for the classroom, plan class and select tools and clips t be used in the classroom.

The facilities are supported by solar power, so there will be no problem for any power outage. The educational channels will be now on display for the students. English, Science, Math, Geography and Physics are in the initial list of subjects, which will be taught using smart class room.

This is a public-private partgnership, where the Ministry of Science and ICT contributes 62% of the resources, the rest is by non-resident Bangladdeshis through Volunteers Association for Bangladesh, New Jersey, D.Net and schools themselves.

It is beginning of a long journey and we hope to learn a lot along the way.
