Millions of state, county, and city employees perform vital work for the American people. But in 26 states, public employees are not covered by OSHA standards. It's time to change that, according to CSB Chairman John Bresland. That's the safety message for January 26, 2009.
How come there is always an "obvious" violation when an explosion, fire , death of a person(s) is OBVIOUS ?? What happens when the violations are subtle... and are just "potential and could occur" scenarios.... For example, inhalation of substances used in the work place from workmen doing remodeling...and using toxic, flammable , potentially poisonous chemicals, glues, paints that put all the public in that building at risk of an explosion, fire, over-exposure to fumes??? They are just as bad

This is an excellent summary of the incident and appropriate comments on the issue of OSHA standards applied to non covered workforces. Well Done!
Are you aware of a series of OSHA standards on video on "youtube" for all to see?

You can't legislate intelligence, unfortunately.
