  • Classic tune, bho wrote it? I've forgotten - it's been so long. Was it Dury/Jankel or Suggs?

  • No way Suggs!! its a Dury/Nugent compositon.

    That fooled yer!

  • Just got hold of some new treats so watch out!

  • Suggs himself will tell you he isn't nearly the frontman Ian was. Doesn't matter...Suggs is still terrific and this was a nice tribute to someone who was such a huge influence on him.

  • Suggs was influenced by Ian Dury, but he never intended to be an exact copy of the man. And as far as I'm concerned, that's the right thing to do. Suggs, just like Dury, has his own style.

If Ian Dury had done cover versions of Baggy trousers or House of fun, I'm sure it would have sounded different as well, but I don't think he would have done a better job, no matter how I love Dury.

  • its like he is singing it to ian

  • There is a cover band in Brighton called The Blox. The front man of that does a great job!

  • RIP Ian Dury....A Cockney legend! A man of wit, charm & intelect. A man who could paint pictures with words.

  • was a bit too young for ian as a kid , but was aware of him through "hit me" . remember watching this tribute in jools and was blown away by it ! he was a national treasure and one of the greatest lyricists ever !

  • Suggs Looks Quite Emotional Singing This Uncle Ian Song...And he Has Good Reason to,

But Suggsy..You Have Done Uan Proud..a GREAT Version

  • the blockheads still rock it whover is singing ( ian rip)

  • Yeah...I guess we should see it for what it is. A tribute. I do like Suggs. I just love Ian Dury. When I saw the Blockheads live recently they had Phil Jupitus on vocals. I'll reserve my thoughts on that one.....except to say that the absolute star of the show was Norman Watt-Roy.

  • They used to call him Uncle Ian I believe!

Stop this petty comparing you idiots and enjoy North London / Camden town's proud few, not them Cu&^s east 17 either!!
