Our nephew Ben Smith with his Standardbred mare Reba in a music video showing their events together for 2009. This was their first year together and he has had a lot of fun with this mare. Thanks to Chapman Stables, Roger and Tammy Chapman, for allowing Ben the opportunity to own his first Standardbred.

  • I'm 3rd generation in the Stb harness racing biz. Grew up racing Yonkers/Roosevelt/ Meadowlands. Unfortunately the business is a mere shadow of what it was in the 60's and 70's. I think this is great. No need for a big fancy facility with a casino/racino attached. There's more people watching this than we get in our stands these days.

What's the breeding on this mare? Any background info? The boy rides her like he was born on her. Amazing and wonderful that these two found each other.

  • @Yambeau Glad you enjoyed the video. The Standardbred pacing classes are very popular in our area. We personally like for ours to "speed rack" but many of our friends ride and show "pacing" classes. This mare was perfect for our nephew. She was sired by Lemoyne Hanover whom I think was located in Canada. She was foaled in Canada also.

  • @vixen310 So far I've found out Lemoyne Hanover was foaled 1982 (now deceased) Made $343,218 lifetime. Stood stud in Canada. Lemoyne was sired by Tyler B, a very popular stud in the '80's and he was by Most Happy Fella a premier stud in the 70's/80's. I remember seeing Most Happy Fella race in the late 60's/early '70's (?). He had a rivalry with a horse named Columbia George. Fella blew George away in the breeding shed. Your mare has blue blood on the father's side. Do you know who the dam is?

  • @Yambeau Thanks for the info. I had researched it a bit and actually contacted her breeder which was also Lemoyne Hanovers owners in Canada. They were supposed to send me pictures but I have not gotten them yet. Her dam is Miss Brooke who was sired by On the Road Again. His fastest time was 1:51 and he made over 2 million in his lifetime.

  • Where is Big Guns?

  • @Yambeau It is held at Circle E Guest Ranch in Belvidere, TN. Will be in April 2011.

  • where is that kids frickin helmet?

  • Great team, love the music. Your mare really looks like OnThe Road Again, he had great endurance and loved to race. The Tyler B blood gives her that long reach, she is one beautiful horse,so nice she has a good home.

  • she got a goood pace on her if u get some hobbels it will be a hole lot better keep her from breakin!

  • United States Trotting Assoc to sponsor Speed Pacing Race Class #14 at East Fork Stables in Jamestown, TN on April 7 - 9. Will Ben and Reba be competing? I'ld really like to see this get popular in the Northeast. So many racehorses not fast enough for the track get thrown away when they could be doing this. Do you have any special info or videos of the other participants? Maybe I could generate some interest on our forum. Sires represented would be great.
