Solo 3 ebrei italiani sono tornati fra piu' di 600 che erano con Primo. Only 3 out of the 600 Italian Jews who were with Primo actually survived Auschwitz.

Cheers for the review; I actually stumbled on your video while looking for a pdf version of the book. Any ideas? Lol. It's listed as one of the 50 most influential books of human history in the book: "Books That Changed the World", isbn: 9781847242549. I'm reading Jean Jaques Rousseau at the moment; was just looking for a pdf of, "If This is a Man", as part of increasing my reading list. Cheers for reading the excerpt; yes "cleanliness is next to godliness" isn't it.

I watched a BBC4 production of Anthony Sher performing "Primo" last night - astounding and moving. As you say, Tash, exactly because he doesn't react in a predictable way, but with so much humility and humanity.
Pity it's not on Youtube or Google videos.

I've heard about that!! I had a look on the iplayer as soon as I read your comment but couldn't find it :( It was on lovefilm too before I cancelled my subscription so it's definitely available on DVD somewhere - i'll keep an eye out on amazon and ebay!
