@MIMIFORSAGE Actually it's Max Emanuel Cencic, and he comes from Croatia but has been living in Vienna for a long time. I don't think that he is a descendant of her, but who really knows?:-) Anyway, he is a brilliant countertenor and his performances can be stunning. It's just this one is lower his highest level as I think artists also have to survive, and this is sung in a pop style. Check his audio version. That is HIS level of excellence:-).

@serenaluce Eh...Ok, I think I understand what you mean. Maybe you're right. What do I know?

I had never heard of Max Emmanuel CENCI ,& wondered if he was a descendant of the family of the illustrious Beatrice Cenci !

@achantus1 Yes, it's true too, but besides beautiful landscapes, the moon, all scenes of nature all ART is sexual and erotic too:-). It doesn't mean that listening to a singer or watching a painter creating a beautiful picture their audience become horny and should run to the stage to make love with him! LOL But if the singer isn't sexually attractive for anyone, his singing isn't sensual as baroque is a very sensual stuff if you want it or not, it's boring, and why did he come on stage at all?:)

Surely there must be emotions besides the sexual? Are all sorts of feelings rooted in sexual desires? That makes no sense to me. I love the sight of beautiful landscapes, of art, of the moon. Sexual? I think not. There must be more to it.

Great, thank you!

@achantus1 What do you mean that you are asexual yourself? You have no sexual preferences or desire? Well, I have:-).Actually singing is a very sexual stuff like all ART should be. I'm a woman, so I usually prefer male singing. But music unites us all. It doesn't matter if an artist is straight or gay himself. Only his TALENT matters! A true artist expresses true emotions, love, suffering, anger, etc according to the IMAGE and doesn't just please the crowd.I receive the "message" in the right way

@serenaluce Sexual preferences don't matter at all! I suppose I'm just being curious, since I'm asexual myself. Yes, that's right, I'have no sexual preference or desire.

@achantus1 To whom do you appeal? To Guichotpresident? Well, I don't think there was somewhat bashing of homosexuals here. We just exchanged opinions that on musical videos it's unappropriate to talk about performers' sexual orientation. Who really cares? But such discussions can be useful as people on other videos all the same ask such questions and often in an insulting form. Actually, after discussing all this we became friends:-). I disagree that Cencic sounds woman-ish, but it what HE hears

I don't care about all this crap. In Handel's Faromondo (Diego Fasolis) he was great. A really wonderful and talented countertenor! It's as simple as that. Regards from a heterosexual (who cares?). Stop this bashing of homosexuals! It has nothing to do with musical talent. What would be left of classical music ( or western culture) if not for homosexuals? Very little, I fear.
Spanos is a sopranist?? Have you heard his TAMERLANO? You think a sopranist can sing so well that low? He's just incredibly capable of addressing different parts with respect to the music first. Cara Speme is a hard piece, and Cencic really has a nice and full voice, but here he is mistaken to breathe in the middle of the word, I'm sorry. It's not unfair to compare the two. He sings Cara Speme, but that doesn't make him a sopranist, either. Christofellis, for example, is a sopranist. Oh, and ...

...regarding Horne and Sills, "una voce poco fa" comes into 2 versions, one in E major and one in F major... one for mezzo, one for soprano. They sound different, even though they are only one semitone apart...
