-------------------- BLUE SMOKE --------------------

So, this is my first big project at Vegas. I think it went out pretty well... just read my log here!

Some weeks before zZ Sneaky was so kind to share his CoD4 clips with others. He wanted to "get rid off them" so he decided to upload them onto filefront so that everybody can download these clips. After watching his announcement video about this I thought; "Why not making a movie by yourself?" I was sucha noob at Vegas at this moment. But I really wanted to learn how to make sick videos. So, hard work's coming...
After downloading all clips, took me about 3 days cause I was too lazy to download them at once, would take too long, though, I wanted to go through them watching for good clips I could use for my upcoming movie. But this never happened. My computer can't handle such high-resolution videos. But I got an idea: I converted all clips with the program called WinAVI into ones with a resolution of 780x480. It also compressed the size of these clips so that my computer could handle the streaming easier. And yeah, watching the clips now really worked!
That was the start signal for my project. So I started working. But the problem was: How should I start? Further I got no good name for my montage. Every of my ideas were a bit cheesy, used already many times. But somehow the title 'Blue Smoke' came into my mind. It got potential but how should I intergrate the name into my movie? Nevermind, I thought. I started making the intro. At first I only got one clip with a text. Then more and more ideas came into my mind. Furthermore I learned how to use more effects and how to keyframe properly. I added background, 3D animations, cool light effects, found a nice soundtrack and some more things. Of course I used images of smoke as my background. I also colored them blue so that it fits into the title. Hmm, didn't look to bad, though. For my first try it wasn't too bad.
I started searching for ideas for the gameplay part. I really needed some cinematics but where can I get them? So I went to Google. Yeah, I found something. You probably have already seen these cinematics, they're from the short movie for Call of Duty 4 called "Ghillie In The Mist". Nevermind, though. I cut that clip into pieces and I told a short story, a story about a sniper hiding from two enemy soldiers. Later both get killed. After cutting I added some effects, light rays and glow. I also found a good soundtrack, too. Further I thought about the title. "Blue". Hmm... Yes! I made a blue filter I could use through the whole movie to make it look, yeah, "blue", what else. Further I decided to use the glow effect through the whole movie, too. Both look good togehter.
After this short introduction for my gameplay part I really started off editing this part. I searched for a good clip. I found one showing us a sick jump headshot performed by Sneaky. Cool, I thought. Could be a great beginning, directly starting off with a sick shot. So I started then. Then the whole got into rolling. I added one clip to another, cut the bad and unnecessary parts out, edited them and synced them to the soundtrack. Went out pretty well! At this moment I was really excited if I can keep up using good editing ideas for the further parts of my movie cause a montage with repetitve editing sucks. The first gameplay part was nearly finished. No problem were visible and I went on working on my movie being very motivated.
Starting off with gameplay part two. Again, I used the cinematics of "Ghillie In The Mist" for the introduction for the second gameplay part. Further I was still using that blue filter and the glow in every clip to "keep it real" with the title 'Blue Smoke'. I still really didn't know how to integrate this name into my movie... While thinking about that I got new ideas for editing. I went back to part one, changed some backgrounds and added some more lightning. For now the intro was done.
I worked on the second part like on the first part. Searching for good clips, cut, edit and adding a soundtrack. Somehow the soundtrack choosing wasn't too hard for me. After watching tons of montages and fragmovies I collected some cool songs. So this was not sucha big problem like it is for others. After some time of working I finished the second part. I was faster then working on part one but there I was still learning how to use Vegas properly...
