For those simple minded computer users. Here's how to enable the recording of system audio on Windows 7 & Ubuntu 10.04. I first decided to do this when I started having problems with Camtasia 7. So I cut back to version 6.2 to find that it doesn't support the recording of system audio. During this video I'm also using a different recorder just as a test and its pretty promising for simple projects.

Tools used:
Freez Screen Video Capture - For recording desktop on Windows 7 - can be downloaded for free here http://www.smallvideosoft.com/

Camtasia 6 - Just to test this version doesn't have the same problems I used it to narrate the video - can be bought or trialed from here (legal but costs £220.00 incl. VAT) http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp or downloaded from Demonoid, Piratebay and other such places (illegal in some countries)

gtk-record my desktop - For Ubuntu desktop recoding - can be found in repositories.
