@december53 I don't see how Tavis is being negative. Like the saying goes.."if you love the people, you serve the people" Tavis has most definitely been serving the people. I don't feel it's about wanting to be Obama. He's merely saying he has to be held accountable for the policies decisions he makes and who he aligns his self with. At some point we have to move past symbolism to substance. It's about creating an open honest dialogue and being able to respectfully disagree. We need it.

...Cont'd- If nothing else, from my past I have learned what "NOT" to do! I preferred my mistakes to be new ones.... not a regurgitation of the old.And you know what... I've done a damn good job of raising some emotionally balanced, productive, high-achieving children. By the way, I'm the mother of 10 children. I've also written my memoirs to serve as a road map to mine and other youngsters so they will never forget which pitfalls to dodge.

We, the now older generation have to put our childhood, unmet needs behind us... accept that what we didn't get is past and begin to utilize our experiences as a teaaching tool for the young folks. We have enough of a History (past experiences) to know what to give to this generation. I came from a household of substance, sexual, emotional, verbal and character abuse.... but this is not what I want for my children and I have worked hard to take another path for their good.
Please....everyone check out the book "WHY ARE SO MANY BLACK MEN IN PRISON?" by Demico Boothe; the book is featured in this documentary and it is one of the most profound books I have ever read myself......

'I'm looking forward to this film. Hopefully we can open some constructive discussions about racism in this country. I do hope the hate and ignorance doesn't manifest in the comments people will leave here, but I predict they will and thus confirm what so many deny: "race" remains a defining issue of our time.
