i followed some guides at the webup8 blog (but you may use your preferred one). They continuously update them and test as many environments as possible. I think youtube has some vids too. Is pretty easy with a command or 2 and is setup automatically.

Maybe its a huge step for them, but i'm sure theres many many dissappointed people out there. I don't find change bad, I just can't get used to it and it's not as customizable as i would like to.

You have a good point, although I thnk there still was ALOT to do in Gnome 2, and TRUELLY expected more fixes, eyes candies and other visual "wow's" and suprises.

For me, Gnome 3, was truelly a disappointment. I didn't felt updated, more like moved to whole different and unadvenced GUI.

the problem is gnome classic is a power user option and is not maintained by them anymore. unity is just like 2 or 3mb anyway.

But is pretty easy to install gnome classic/fallback in ubuntu or any other official desktop environment you want. For example xubuntu/kubuntu-desktop package will install ful xfce or kde.

Yes, I reciently heard about Cinnamon and got my eye on it. I think (for me) it will be the closest GUI for a comfortable work and look as well.

I would be happy very happy if they could make a GUI choice on the install wizard (Unity or Classic Gnome). Im pretty sure that would make a lot of people happy, not just me. Right now I feel forced to use Unity. You all will probably say, that nobody's forcing anybody, but I loved Ubuntu and basicly, now I'm forced to search for something else.

I know what 12.04 is about. Thats why I use ONLY LTS realeses.

And who are you to judge the right direction ???

Having a launchpad account is annoying but can be justified for example to prevent spam.

Try cinnamon from Linux Mint. I have a feeling you will like it if you don't want to use unity. ^^

@ubuntudevelopers, I appreciate the video but I don't think this is "dead simple" at all. You completely skip over: a) the need to have a Launchpad account, and; b) the need to know the package name. If it were really "dead simple" you could use the Report Bug option from any application and have the option to report a bug unrelated to that app, i.e., make the Report Bug command 'generic' to the whole OS and with the current app as the default package.
