Why are the upper becs cut ?
Do they fight if you dont do that ?

who said we should eat eggs in the first place,, its still exploiting intelligent beautiful girls,, and by the way you cant ask an animal how to treat it for food, it would say let me live, what a nation of greed we have become,
-
@WoodstockSanctuary yeah, I know, I get that, I am a member of Peta, and for the record, Most chickens beaks are completely cut off when going through the de-beaking process. But as Vital Farms have stated, those bird were rescue birds. I'm sure at your sanctuary you have saved, kept, and rescued many birds that have been debeaked. Should we hold you responsible for them being debeaked? Surely not. Instead of trying to discredit a reputable farm, why don't you go after Roberts or something?
-
@loverlei79 FYI de-beaking does not remove the entire beak, it's the first third or so of their top beak, seared off with a hot blade. That's the part that is sharpest and can be used to peck at other birds when crowded, but it's essential for a chicken to be able to find food, insects, etc.

@WoodstockSanctuary What video were you watching? they had beaks.

@galochka777 got one more dozen and yolk is bright yellow and yummy. the best eggs ever! thank you!
-
@galochka777 the light is the candler. it's how the eggs are graded. the light illuminates the eggs and shows if there are imperfections or cracks ("checks") in the eggs.

got the eggs from wholefood. but why the egg youlk is soooooooooo pale.... if they are grow by nature nature the egg must be bright deep yellow if not orange...
-
pease explain the episode when eggs on some metal and light goes throu them. you radiate them? sorry
The chickens depicted are still debeaked at the hatcheries. I wonder if they can truly have a natural diet when their beaks are not sharp enough to peck the way nature intended.

WoodstockSanctuary - we obtained many of our hens from other farms after they were 'spent,' so in a sense we rescued them much like you do. So, they had been de-beaked long before we got them. They do, in fact, forage pretty well in spite of that. However our newer flocks, which we obtain as pullets, are not de-beaked.
