First off, I had to deal with a huge lip zit that night...
It's nothing compared to Øystein Baadsvik's playing, but it is what it is. A bit low quality picture and sound, and the band drowns out the solo a bit, but nevertheless it's still a wonderful song... filmed at Benson Great Hall in Bethel College, Minnesota.

  • WHAT KIND OF TUBA IS THAT

  • King BBflat, vintage 1960, model 1241. One of those old, beat-up horns that sound amazing.

  • strongbreak, this is the version I have, but the one I remember hearing Baadsvik play (at least on youtube) is the one on the Arnold Jacobs cd. They are two different versions, right? I'm having trouble finding that one. If anyone can help me out, Id be much appreciated.

btw, awesome job. You do the name of BBb soloists well

  • Baadsvik's version is the same song, however the version is about twice as long and highly advanced. I heard something similar live, but I wouldn't be surprised it Baadsvik was just doing his own version... I was VERY tempted to do so myself.

  • Nice playing. A bit of echo in the place but it was good. What tuba were u using? doesnt look like an F, looks like a C or Bb but then again the stand is blocking it for the whole vid. Good job and keep playing!

  • Thanks... it's a King BBflat, vintage 1960, model 1241.

  • Benson Great Hall is a really nice place to play at! The acoustics are just amazing and this hall is a hall that can truly reflect the beauty of the tone quality you are giving to the audience. Great job, I love it! =)

  • The only thing I'd really change about this is the way you played the cadenza at the beginning. It was kind of hard to follow you because it didn't really seem like you were in 6/8. Also, taking it a bit slower instead of plowing through it adds a nice effect, exagerating the rest after the triplets helps with that too. This piece is meant to be really showy and that cadenza at the beginning is a good way to do that. Other than that though it was excellent. Awesome job.

  • cool... i've never heard a negative towards one

  • I have a MF-2B and I love it.

  • MIKE FINN!!!! yeah MF3-H

  • Wht is it? :D :D

  • This is the G.E. Holmes Version, I ordered this one just last week without realizing it wasn't Arban's version. This piece isn't too bad though, very fun to play, and I'm just going to practice this while I wait for the Arban's version to come in, kinda as a "warmup"

But yeah, that sounded very nice, you should check out the transposed Arban's version if you haven't already.

  • or , you're in business. Everyone plays on their own setup.

  • where can i find this version to play with my band...it seems easy enough to play

  • great intonation and dynamics!

id like to be able to play this one day
