Was this some kind of studio compilation movie? I ask because I cant' think of a place where Ki. 43s would have encountered U.S. Army P-40s and British Brewsters. Are those Chinese P-40s? If so, that could be film from Burma, conceivably. How likely I don't know. Painted frames? I'd love to hear from a Japanese military historian.

This is a movie produced, I believe, in 1942 There was a famous army fighter pilot called Tateo Katoh who did not come back from a mission flight to the Bay of Bengal, and this film is about him.

I saw this film when I was a boy of ten or 11 years old in Tokyo (after this, I evacuated to Nagano Prec.) The name of the actor who played the role of Katoh was Susume Fujita.
The music you can hear towards the end of clip is Katoh Hayabusa Sentoutai, the name of the film.

Trust this was made during the Pacific War, kind of typical propaganda film. Yet, do not know how at that time, they could use or film allied aircraft. Presumably they had used captured ones.

Its amazing they were able to source so many Ki-43's for this movie as nearly all Japanese aircraft were burned or destroyed immediately during the post war occupation. Check out the move "ore kimi no tame ni shinu" ...(i die for those we love) also known as 'for those we love' . Its a recent Japanese movie featuring the Ki-43 and Ki-61. torrent is available...no subs tho. Very hard to find sub'd movies unless specifically distributed for the overseas market.

Wasn't this film made in1944, when a plenty of Hayabusas were still in service?
