This video shows how I built my kegerator for my homebrewed beer. I found the idea on youtube.com/Homebrew58. If you are considering building one of your own, I recommend you watch his 3 segment video because it gives a more detailed step by step instruction on how to do so. Thanks for watching my video, I hope it helps.

  • Thank you. I made a couple changes since the video & the kegerator has been running great! I removed all the insulation & screws the very next day. I installed 3/4" styrofoam instead (with nothing around the rim). The lid still wouldn't sit flush no matter how many attempts I tried. So I installed a chest clamp on each side to hold it shut! And like I said, it works great!

The top is still warmer as you stated, I've also heard of people installing fans on the inside to circulate cold air...

  • Oh, if you haven't fixed the problem closing the lid yet, I suspect it would be the extra height from the insulation and the screws you fastened it to the collar with.

I suggest you remove the screws that hold the lid to the collar then lay the lid flat where is should go when it's closed (like you probably did in the first place) that way the screw holes on the hinges will be where they want to be. That's assuming the insulation is of similar thickness all the way around.

    I hope that helps.

  • Good job. I made my kegerator using Homebrew58's design, too. I almost used BobbyfromNJ's design but I didn't really care to do that much work.

I like the idea you had about insulating the wood. The top of my kegerator is way warmer than the bottom, I'm pretty sure a lot of the 'cold' is lost through the wood so that was a clever idea.
