The mighty MI Audio Tubezone is a monster of drive and distortion. It has six controls that all interact with each other making for an occasionally daunting but always surprising ride. It can take up to 25v via DC and in this instance I have it running at 18v where it seems VERY happy.

As usual, I recorded this clip using my trusty Floyd Rose Redmond Model 3 with vintage spec pickups; Laney VC 50 2x12 with some nice old Greenbacks and EL34's; a Violet Design 'The Amethyst' studio mic; an M-Audio ProFire 610 interface; Logic and a bit of compression and reverb plate. No extra EQ.

  • does this pedal have a real tube ? sorry for bad english

  • @nikitofin Your English is fine. Probably better than mine! No, no tube in this pedal. :)

  • Damn, nice tone!

I have one question, can it work in amp fx loop return?

    Thankss Burggg

  • @nasyasatch Nah, I wouldn't be putting it before the power amp. It needs to see an amp's input and pre amp first, for best results. :)

  • Hey great demo! Ive heard some people say this thing can do some good Mesa Mark IIC+ tone and I was wondering if you would suggest this or something else for close to Mark II tone, also would this thing be closer to mesa tone with the 18v or 9v? Thanks

  • @cowcrusher Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I've not had any experience with the MKIIC so I can't offer any advice.

    Anyone else?

  • Burgerman you're my hero!!

  • My fave pedal!!! :-)

  • @RiffCito are you kidding? it's the chorus part from Bark At The Moon lol

  • What is that riff between 1:20-1:26!?!? It's awesome!

  • I have been playing on this pedal for about a year now. It does seem to be different (better) with an 18V power supply, but I can't explain why. It just does. Mind you, at 9V-usually what most players have available- it works great. This pedal has a tube feel like no -other non-tube pedal I have ever played with. This is one of those things that they should just keep making year after year. It is perfect as-is. If you don't own one, get one, seriously.

  • It has got the tube sound characteristic but lacks the certain sweetness that real tube pedal have got.

  • Really enjoying your vids. They are very informative. I'm curious about which clean tone was being used on your Laney V50 for this video. Was it the clean channel itself, or the overdrive channel with the gain turned way down? Each channel is pretty different, filtering wise, and I was wondering which channel the Tube Zone was going through ...which channel do you mainly use with your pedals?

  • hi burgerman!

would you recommend this in tandem with a stratocaster?

  • I have one, and a lot of boutiques including OCDs, this is my go to box. If u can´t take a great sound out of it u better give up, super flexible!

  • It sound like solid state. buzzy....
