Brilliant comedy duo, Alexander Armstrong & Ben Miller recreate our of Morecambe & Wise's most famous & most loved routines on Happy Birthday Bafta!

I think they did an AMAZING job [& How cute does Ben look in his dressing gown? haha!] & I love both Armstrong & Miller & Morecambe & Wise to pieces. I think they'd have been proud to see it if they were here today...
AND I don't want any of "those" comments...i.e "they're think they're Morecame & Wise" rubbish. They love Morecambe & Wise & are simply paying a tribute...nothing more. Any comments like this will be deleted straight away. You've been warned! ;)
Enjoy!

  • I wonder how many take they needed to do this in?

  • @animelovers000

she literally said 'u missed a bit out,' so we re did it and mum just said..... 'well done'

  • @hugamumfterwoof hahahaha what did your mum say when she saw you two doing it

  • This is a lovely tribute, an impeccably handled accurate copy of the original done live in front of an audience. How brave to take it on because it could just go SO wrong!

Nowadays we get so many poor copies of the greats, or worse, spoofs or re-writes that mock or don't understand and respect the original. You can only feel that this is a loving and genuine salute to 2 of the greatest-ever talents of British television.

  • me and my brother tried doing this in are kitchen we were doing well.....til mum got us

  • Brilliant!

  • brill version of a classic sketch.. LOVED it!!

  • Armstrong and Miller are the closest to M&W you will get around these days... but never will be able to be as good as M&W

  • nothing like the original, personally hated this

  • it won't beat the the original but this routine is such a challenge to recreate as it needs to be timed perfectly with the music and Armstrong and Miller have done it wonderfully.

  • Not as good as the original, but they did a good job and it's always nice to see the comedians of today paying tribute to the comedians of yesterday.

  • @michaelritchie200 No recreation will be as good as the original. This was fantastic.

  • @EccentricGentelman I don't think Eric & Ernie used camera tricks, but I think they did pre-record the sketch and only showed the audience the completed article. Armstrong and Miller obviously rehearsed this piece to kingdom come, but they did it completely live in front of an audience - which is a case to say that this is arguably better than the original. Blasphemy, I know - but not impossible.

  • They did a good job

  • identical yet equally funny, and you can tell that its been slightly altered in the mannerisms and in that way unique. its amazing that they could recreate the same set or preserve the old one

  • A fantastic tribute to two of our most loved comedians performing arguably the funniest of their sketches. Well done A & M, RIP M & W. Fantastic. Thank you.

  • Armstrong actually cut the grapefruit better than Eric did. :-)

  • I'm sure that Eric & Ernie would've LOVED this :) x

  • It's very good as a tribute and full credit to A and M, but M and W cannot be bettered. Both versions were pretty amazing. How did they throw eggs and not break them?

  • Beautiful (as a tribute)

  • Its amazing to know that Morecambe and Wise will never be forgotten :') I doubt Armstrong and Miller will be either :)

  • I always thought M+W used camra tricks to make that sketch

  • Easy to criticise, but as far as I can tell, A & M was performed live (apart from one or two small cutaway shots, such as the pancakes landing in the pan) whereas the M&W version was recorded - so they had as many takes as necessary. Don't be fooled by audience laughter... the studio audience is shown the recording, and their laughter is then recorded and dubbed onto the original for transmission... what looks like "live" often isn't!

  • It was a good recreation but the camerawork didn't do it any justice wihatsoever.

  • @chibinekogirl101 It's mentioned at the begining.. The Stripper
