Lam Saravane [ ลำสาละวัน ] : Nang Soubane Vongath , Sengphet Souryavongxay , khen : Khamsy Khounsavath , flute : Nouthong Phimvilayphone , Nang Soubane Vongath, one of refugee. She has devoted her whole life to her prodigious art, as much in the invention of poetic images, clearly incomprehensible to Westerners, as in the techniques of breathing and singing, which reach a rare degree of perfection.It is sufficient to hear her vocalise on the final syllables of words to be impressed by this repetitive music [ one brief melodic theme coming back ceaselessly in a regular rhythm]. This record is primarily a Soubane recital. Her young partner Sengphet Souryavongxay, who is on his way to becoming a future mo lam of the first rank, confines himself here to simply responding.
