Woah! I'm so happy with the copper top! We're making pancakes, and nachos (from raw corn tortillas. ....not crappy premade ones), and rice, sweet potatos, snausage! YUM! Gotta go!

  • Is the stove working good?

  • Ya, its working great!

  • I am a 38 year old married handyman and life long tinkerer with a 5 month old daughter. (TMI) Anyway I am on the verge of buying some land and building my home (not HAVING it built but actually building it) and so I am entertaining several options like a dome, or CEB, or cordwood....you get the idea. During my data search I somehow ended up getting sucked into your life :0) But on a serious note how is the dome working out? Is it easy to keep warm? Is it a prefab?

  • The dome is totally not prefab. :-) ...and its amazing! it gets so warm when the sun is out. :-)

Its pretty easy to heat at night too.... especially with the new stove. :-)

I am planning on putting some clear mylar over the windows to make them 4 pane. They 're double pane now, but really aren't very insulative. :-P

  • This is for all who want jamie to rush on the robot, let him do it in his own time, we don't want him to rush and then have the whole thing go catastrophic and squish him. And pancakes are a must in any situation.

  • Back in collage Industrial Engineering we were told that toaster manufactures only sold one toaster to a family. They finally figured out if they lowered the quality where they wouldnt last as long they could sell more toasters. This was the event that triggered our current disposable society. At least that is what I was taught in collage.

  • copper plated pots are plated on the bottom to transfer the heat from the burner to the metal pot and onto the food. a pot filled with food will not allow the copper to get past boiling temp, the food "cools" the pot. In a wood stove the surface metal can climb to much higher temps, 500 - 900 degrees metal temp can be common. the hottest a wood fire can burn is about 1400 degrees. but that is at full combustion lots of oxygen. Nice job on the top, copper does get "soft" from heat however.

  • Brilliant!! It's great to see people operating with that skill level. We have been so dumbed down these days...

  • BBQs come with stainless steel tops. very swish. i always laugh at the posh jobies that buy $1000 set ups and don't get stainless tops.

for even better performance on MK3 mr burns only use the copper for small sections that you put your potsnpans on. no point wasting all that expensive copper.

  • When mixing copper and steel, maybe you should worry about galvanic corrosion (maybe you should not).

Wow, looks like a lot of work. Good job!

  • most of the pan/pot is steel with the copper only cladding the outside - thus the food never comes in contact with the copper

  • Copper is a better thermal conductor then Iron because it a pure metal. When it is not being used it should be cooler then the rest of the stove.

  • You just earned yourself a new subscriber. Very cool stuff, keep it up!

  • hey dude, cmon uve been feastin outenough on yo copper stove top,get ursel 2geter and start filmin and stuff,we worry about u

  • so how come people don't get poisoned by copper cookware?
