Learn the full, true story of Operation Red Wings (incorrectly called Operation Redwing by many) at www.darack.com/victorypoint
Information on this video below:

JJ Konstant, a key figure documented in Ed Darack's book, Victory Point (published by Berkley Caliber, an imprint of the Penguin Publishing Group on April 7, 2009), discusses Operation Whalers, and also some of Operation Red Wings. He is speaking to a national radio audience, after making an appearance for the Wounded Warriors the night before. JJ's platoon took on the same group responsible for killing three of a four-man Navy SEAL team and downing an MH-47D special operations helicopter sent in to rescue the SEALs, killing all on board.
Victory Point documents two Marine Corps operations which took place in eastern Afghanistan's Kunar Province in the summer of 2005, Operation Red Wings, and Operation Whalers. Red Wings was planned by the 2nd Battalion of the 3rd Marine Regiment, and sought to destroy the operations of a small but growing, very ruthless insurgent / terrorist cell led by a man named Ahmad Shah. Based on an operational model developed by their sister battalion (the 3rd Battalion of the 3rd Marine Regiment, whom the 2nd battalion replaced in June of 2005), senior battalion leadership planned to utilize special operations forces for the opening phases of Red Wings. Red Wings opened with the insertion of a four-man Navy SEAL reconnaissance and surveillance team, which was ambushed by Shah and his men just hours later, killing all but one. One of Shah's men also shot down an MH-47D helicopter sent in to rescue the recon team. Victory Point gives, for the first time, the full story of Operation Red Wings, including the background on the planning, the background on Ahmad Shah, the region in general, and other riveting facts.
The follow-on mission, also documented in Victory Point, Operation Whalers, unfurled with stunning military efficacy against Shah and his men--now much stronger due to worldwide media lionization of the tragedy the terrorist caused, which spurred other extremists from around the world to flock to his side. Victory Point, for the first time, tells the entire story of Red Wings and Operation Whalers (each named for professional hockey teams--Red Wings is often mis-referenced as 'Operation Redwing'). The stories of struggle and ultimate triumph are incredible, but ones virtually unknown until the publication of Victory Point.

  • an seals be saying that they dont need usmc recon....SHIT YES THE FUCK THEY DOOOOO....

  • This book gives the unbullshitted account of Operation Red Wings and the follow-up operation, Operation Whalers. Ahmad Shah & his group of militants did ambush a 3man sniper/recon team after they had a chance encounter with a wandering native but they did not end up the same way the SeALs of Operation Red Wing ended up. To be succinct, all of the AQtypes with the captured SeAL gear are with their 72 virgins in paradise. So nice of the marines to help them achieve their goal of martyrdom
